Queens of Chaos #2

Beautiful Fool

Rate this book
Love. Safety. Happiness.

The defection shattered any chance of this. It unearthed both old and new skeletons and it left only suspicion in its wake.

Guilty until proven innocent.

Bastien thought he knew The Club. He was learning that The Elders were more heinously depraved than his worst nightmares. His dreams of freedom and love with Gemma were now only a fantasy.

Had he been a hopeless romantic all along?

Gemma had thought she had found happiness. The love of her life in Bastien. She had not expected her friends to conspire to tear this away from her.

Was she just being a beautiful fool?

Jumping in from where Little Doll left us, we get to see the fall out from Gemma and Bastien's point of view. I loved finding out more about The Club and seeing how the other characters coped in the shit storm that Xanthe left them all in.

I loved Gemma in Little Doll but starting Beautiful Fool I found her really annoying and very whiny and her mum I disliked straight away, pandering to her little girl who could do no wrong. But as we got further into the story she found her strength and I fell back in love with her, she is definitely one of the most relatable characters I have read as she is a 'real' girl and not a badass heroine we always see in books and wish we was more like.

Bastien on the other hand I did not like at all in Little Doll but my opinion of him has done a complete 180 and has shown me his true side where he is completely head over heels in love with Gemma. These two are 'it' for each other and they balance each other out beautifully.

And what a fool I was, here I am thinking we get a continuation of where we left off in book 1 and nope. LJ sweeps in and hits us with a new couple!!!

It’s Gemma and Bastian’s turn. And their story did not disappoint. Gemma takes some getting used to but her character development is great. She just wants to believe the goodness in everyone but towards the end when she has even more to lose, she smartens up. And when you throw Bastian in the mix oh boy get ready for the steam!!

And the ending!!! AGHHHH!!! Twists, turns, and surprises oh my!!! No, I’m not going to tell you what happened, you are going to have to read it and find out for yourself.

The QoC series is fast becoming one of those where I’m watching my calendar awaiting the next installment.

Can’t wait to see where the next book takes us!

Thank you so much for the copy you know I've been dying to read the next book as soon as I was done with little doll.

So I went into this book hating Gemma but after seeing things from her side I have so much sympathy for her. She can do nothing right in Noelles eyes and yes some of the stuff she brings on her herself like not accepting Noelle's beliefs and telling her to stop talking about them almost constantly. But then there are also the times she asks questions about her friend life like the predicament Noelle is in and being a friend she wanted the details. Like I'm sorry but if my best friend did what Noelle did I would want details to! But for her to just be snapped at left right and centre when she tries to be a good friend and support her or even understand it so she can support it fully she's belittled. Honestly this girl deserves better than her so called friends and it breaks my heart as she is such a strong person underneath it all which we would see if she wasn't so strongly put down which then causes her to put down herself. Like take a minute for the girl she could have been if she didn't have a friends like this. I'm using friends because this also happened in the Little Doll and now my heart is just breaking for her

I'm here for Bastian and Gemma though. He just supports her and answers all her questions revolving around the family business which helps me understand how that works. Like you wouldn't just understand all the inner workings of it without being explained right? Or is that just me?

Also how on earth did that car not crash?? With my luck I would have crashed it 😅

I swear once again Laura you have succeded on sending me on a emotional rollercoaster.

The ending was amazing it gives such perfect vibes to lead on to Noelle and her relationships whilst still leaving us all on a cliffhanger.

This is book 2 of the Queens of Chaos series and Gem and Bastien’s story.
Although it focuses on Gem and Bas, all our fav characters from ,”Little Doll,” are also in attendance.
Their story is just as complicated and surreal as Xanthe‘s and Blaise was. Only Gem is a much more innocent type of MFC.
It was an Incredibly fast paced read and left me, often times, frustrated with the characters actions. Several time I found myself yelling out things like, “Omg, why would she do that?!” Or, “Did he really just say that?!” Yah, this book will for sure get a reaction out of you.
Whether that’s a good or bad reaction...well, that all depends on who you’re rooting for. Me? I’m hoping for that HEA for all the characters!
3 1/2 stars, but only because I didn’t quite like their story as much as Xanthe’s and Blaise’s. Which is no ones fault but my own personal twisted tastes! Very well written and flowed at a nice pace. I am seriously looking forward to Noelle’s story next!

• My review for Beautiful Fool by @ljfindlayauthor • #editingproject

Where do I even start? When I first read Little Doll and was introduced to the toxicity of the Club members, I had no idea I will be a part of something this big! First, Xanthe and Blaise. And now, Gemma and my very own favorite, delicious French bastard, Bastien. Come to mama😍

Where the dynamics between Xanthe, Gemma, and Noelle have somewhat been shaky enough, with the events of book 1, everybody are left shaken up. Especially poor Gemma. My beautiful naive little fool. I loved how Laura literally forces the emotions out of us for this woman. Although I had a love-hate relationship with her throughout the story (please don't kill me, Princess), I was totally in favor of the storyline that played out. There were murders, drama, deceit, betrayals, and completely surprising turn of events, which even I wasn't informed of! Gemma and Bastien were on the verge of that line where you either fall and die, or go on and trust that your partner got you.

The side characters, hello D, A, N, L! Haha. I won't go into depth with these characters because unless you read this book, it won't be so enjoyable but I honestly was amazed with how things turned out at the end...

My rating: 4 beautiful stars ✨

We start the book with the consequences of Xanthe and Blaise escape. Gemma and Bastien are hit with the repercussions of letting Xanthe and Blaise have a last night that let on to Xanthe kidnapping Blaise.

Gemma is heart broken by Xanthe's desition and by Noelle betrayal they didn't include her when they make the plan and she was afected by their acctions. Bastien was doubting on what Gemma was telling. Gemma was really mad because he didn't defend her or back her up when she was interrogated. At that point Gemma is doubting their relationship. She is very hurt by her friends and her boyfriend at that point I was really mad because no one took her in consideration and I totally see why she was so mad.

Bastien has to make a decition or the club and his brothers or his love for Gemma.

In this book we get to see inside of the club and the elders life and how the decitions are made. This was very helpful to have an idea of what the guys had to do or why they act the way they do especially Damien.

This book is playing with my emotions for a moment I hate Gemma then I love her and hate Noelle then I'm confused by Noelle and then I hate Bastien but later I love him and hate Damien God this book is playing with meeee.

Gemma and Noelle's friendship is weird is like they love each other like sister to dead but they hold secrets from each other and this secrets is breaking apart their friendship.

I'm f*cking loving Damien ugh I want him.

I was making theories about Noelle's secrets. It got me very intrigued about Noelle and why she is so close up and don't like to talk about her life. Did something traumatic happens tl her. What is she not telling us. Also I wanted to know more about Artie and how they make their relationship work. Artie, Damien and Noelle how the hell that happen.

Can we talk about the chemestry and fire between Bastien and Gemma it was like pure fire. I loved how they can't keep their hands from each other. The sex scene were amazing, hot, steamy and wow.

Ugh God Gemma got me crying with her. She was treated like she was a child and I hated that so much. She is very relatable, her feeling and the way she reacted to things were very real. This thing make it easy to conect with a character and this one got me good. I really conected with her and her feelings.

Every time some one make her feel like she didn't deserved the thing she had she doubted herself and got that inner thinking that no one want her that she was worthless and she didn't deserved the thing she had that was very real and deep and so relatable. Since she had a lot of people that didn't take her seriously she started to believe in this even more. That got her doubting the love that Bastien had for her. And it was so understandable since her bestfriends didn't count with her with making desitions, her boyfriend was doubting her and didn't defended her plus all the shit she had at her work. She didn't have a minute in peace.

Omg this book is so frustraiting Noelle get me mad all the f*cking time and I feel like no one understand Gemma.

Gemma had me crying every 5 minutes. In the first book you see Gemma like a little bit of a b*tch and you will hate her since you think that she is selfish and she don't want Xanthe and Blaise together. But damn in this book we get everything in Gemma's POV and wow we see the big picture about her feelings and we understand why she was feeling that way. Gemma is a young woman that was used so much and her confident is non-existent. She doesn't believe in herself she is very self consious and she is always doubting herself and her capabilities. Gemma is so innocent and she doesn't understand much about the guys world but she gradually became more aware about all of the thing that the guys have to do and how they have to play the game to be free one day.

LUDO LUDO POOR LUDO CAN I HAVE HIM 😛

This book got me frustrated, mad, really f*cking mad, frustrated again, crying, crying, crying, mad again, wanting to kill a lot of people, crying again then crying, frustrated, crying happy tears and then happy/frustrated and mad. (I love when a book plays with my emotions)

Then the ending. I was so happy that all the pieces came together and the guys and the girls were finally together but I have a feeling that something really bad is going to happen.  The ending got me more intrigued.

Gemma and Bastien are ENDGAME 🖤

I got very anxious with the ending and I can't wait for next book you did really good. This keeps getting better and better. 🖤

Beautiful Fool is everything I wanted it to be, and so much more.

Firstly, I want to congratulate Laura on a fantastic second book, Gemma wasn't my favourite out of the Queens but I definitely have more of a soft spot for her now. Secondly, at the start of the story I found Gemma extremely whiny but throughout the book she gets better and does become a lot stronger albeit still naive.

Although this is Gemma's story, we pick up pretty much where Little Doll left us. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the aftermath of what happened in book one and how it was effecting all of them differently. Bastien having to deal with The Club and Gemma having to deal with her insecurities and the fact she felt betrayed by her two best friends.

The whole story is filled with twists, drama, sex and in true Queens of Chaos fashion - drinking! I loved finding out more about The Club as I haven't read many books with a secret society so I definitely related to Gemma not believing how bad they could be because I would definitely be the same! Gemma goes through a lot in this book, and honestly I just want to give her a hug.
Bastien, I don't know what to say about him besides that he's just perfect. He's so in love with Gemma, and you can really see that with everything he does in the book because his end goal is always to be with her.

I completely fell in love with this book, and it will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat! Bring on book three!!

Still dealing with the defection in book 1, the queens of chaos and the guys find themselves in turmoil against the Club. Duty, honor, inheritance is how our men have been raised (our kings of chaos 😉💁🏻‍♀️, let’s be honest, the winds of change did enter the bar that night and it wasn’t just our queens that altered the future for everyone) and with the defection, those are being questioned even more. Our kings are not the same guys we met in book one and it’ll be exciting to see what they become.

Can love be strong enough to go against the Club?

Gemma isn’t the most likable, in fact, she drove me mad sometimes, BUT she reminds us that we are all human. She’s whiny, short-sighted, and allows her past to dictate her present and future. She can be selfish and naive and has a “woe-is-me” complex that will make you want to pinch her a few times. She’s so afraid of pain and heart ache that she misses out on life.

She’s the self-deprecation and the self-doubt that stop us, as humans, from reaching for our dreams. She’s that tiny voice that tells us that we’re not good enough. But in true Gemma form she reminds us that being a strong, independent, bad *ss woman, means learning to dance in the rain; shed insecurities and trust in the trustworthy. We see her growth and I believe this is just the start for her.

Bastien is our dear, sweet, swoon-worthy, hot French guy whose accent will drive any woman wild. He’s sincere and will do anything for his “mon amour.” He’s supportive and is the perfect calm to the storm in Gemma’s head. He’s is reassuring and loyal.

These two are beautiful together and will always find a way. Endgame.

Outside of the romance, these queens and their kings have thrown their world and the Club into chaos. A war is coming and our group is stronger together. As they begin to figure that out...the Club better be prepared!!!

Book 3 is sure to be 🔥

Beautiful Fool is the second book in the Queens of Chaos series and focuses on Gemma and Bastien.

The book starts right where Little Doll ened and we see Gemma, Bastien and the rest of the gang dealing with the aftermath of cliffhanger at the end of the first book.
I have to be honest and say I really disliked Gemma in the first book so I was a bit scared how this book will work out for me. And yes I still think Gemma was whiny, naive, judgmental and annoying most of the book and I wish she grew a backbone sooner.
But she was also so real! As much as she frustrated me, her reaction to all the chaos happening around her was genuine, raw and real! She’s oposite of Xanthe and Noelle and that’s okay. And I was honestly surprised with her character development. I still don’t love her but I understand her much better!
And Gemma and Bastien are truly endgame! He was so sweet, protective and devoted to her. You can’t help but completely fall in love with this sexy French man!
I loved that we found out more about The Club and their dealings. And while the story flowed a bit slower in the first half, the second half more than made up for it! There were so many twist and turns, I was not expecting things to get so intense! While there was tension between both guys and girls at the start, I’m glad they finally realized they are in this together and have to be united if they want to come out on top. I can’t wait to see how it will all play out in the next book!

So will love prevail? That is the question to ask when reading this book. So you remember Xanthe and Blaise right? Well they pretty much left the rest of the gang to fend for themselves. Like when you read this book you will read about Gemma and Bastian story. Now my only issue was with Gemma, you would think that she would have gained a back bone after the whole Dylan thing. She is still naive and well seriously common sense is not this girl. I mean street smart she is not!! Well I get she wants to be loved but at what cost. Is she willing to make that choice. Then you have Bastian who seems to be torn but soon realizes that he does love her and care for her. He only has to decide if he will put her above the club or not. After everything that happened with Blaise and Xanthe it seems that the club is coming after the rest of the guys. There are other things that happen along the way and it is crazy but intense. As you read you will still wonder what will happen and not see the twist coming. So be prepared.

Brilliant!!
This picks up right where 'Little Doll' left us. This however was Gemma and Bastien's story and how they were dealing with the aftermath of Xanthe's decisions in book one. Straight away i was hooked right back into the plot, which was so full of suspense, twists and loads of drama!
Gemma is one of my favourite characters because she is so different to the other Queens of chaos. She has so many insecurities and requires a lot of reassurance, however she also has an inner strength which comes out at times when you least expect it. As for Bastien....well he is pure perfection! He is so protective and loving to Gemma and gives her the reassurance she needs!

I really liked how the plot progressed and how we found out more about 'the club'. There are some really nasty villains in this story...i cant wait to see how the queens of chaos and their kings handle them in book three!! I have a feeling things are going to get a lot darker...and i cant wait!!

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

4 "ENDGAME" STARS!!!

"And, just like that, my world went to shit."

Beautiful Fool picks up right after Little Doll, with the characters having to fix the mess the Queens of Chaos created at the end of book 1. We jump straight back in a story full of mysteries, secrets and deception. Everyone is literally a mess and I loved seeing them slowly getting things back together and figuring out how to work and fight against the cult.

Gemma. Like Xanthe she was a contradictio personified and I'm not gonna lie she frustrated me for most of the book. She was insecure and a crying mess. But slowly she did start to get herself back together and she stood up for herself more, and I liked that.

Even though Gemma wasn't my favorite, Bastien really made up for it. He was just so sweet and devoted, since the first time he saw her she was it for him and I loved that. He didn't have eyes for anyone else, he was fiercely protective, he trusted her and gave her the benefit of the doubt and was all around such an amazing and different hero. I loved him.

In this book we were really able to advance more into the overall story. I liked that we got to know more about all the families and how the cult works, and even though this book was slow at times it also had so much going on behind the scenes and I am definitely intrigued with this world. I like this series because she is able to make me feel good and bad emotions. I swear one moment I love a character, the next I want to kill it, then I'm back to loving it. And that happened to all of them at different points, that's new for me and I do find it refreshing. It's definitely a nice change of pace lol.

Even though basically all the characters can be frustrating they are also so real too, maybe because of that since no one is perfect. I loved the last chapter, it had so much going on and I can't wait to see what will happen next. Those girls do know how to leave my emotions in a chaos but that's ok since I can't seem to get enough of them.

L.J. Findlay has become one of my favorite authors!
She has taken someone that we can relate to and made her the female main character in this book. We can relate to her because she is being introduced into The Club just like us. This is all new to her so she keeps adapting to her surroundings.
Gemma's transformation is amazing through this book. At the beginning, she is reserved and quiet and pleases others. Her journey is difficult and I admire the woman she has become. Towards the end she has a final push that helps her become a strong and outspoken woman.
There are so many amazing things that happen in this book. You have to read it so you can join in the Queen of Chaos roller coaster ride that L.J. Findlay has running at full speed!

I was so eager for book 2 of the Queen of Chaos series and Beautiful fools didn't disappoint.
Gemma and Bastian are the main characters of this book, I loved reading their story, their love for each other is heart melting.
Trying to deal with the society, bad bosses and evil made me devour this book.
So many secrets hidden that eventually came out and shocked me to the core.
Also written is Noelles story and unexpected loves.
I loved reading Gemmas character development from being a shy naive girl to so much more.
Cant wait for book 3.

Awesome

What an awesome read. The storyline was amazing. So many plot twists, suspense and angst. I didn't always like the heroine Gemma but I liked how she developed through the book. I think she could be a bit self absorbed, naïve and in trying to be a friend, come off judgey. She did start to understand things more and was better able to communicate. I like books that have characters that are 'real' and Gemma is just that. We all are different so as much as I sometimes didn't like her, I enjoyed her character. This author does a fantastic job with that.

I loved Bastien, he is such a sweetheart even though I was mad at him when he didn't communicate well in a situation near the end. I do think Gemma is perfect for him. The other characters like Noelle, Damien, Ludo and even Artie are great and I hope we get more of them in the future. I really want book 3 asap. 🙏

LJ Findlay blew me away with her debut novel, Little Doll. She's a sneaky one...with how that one ended, I thought Beautiful Fool was the continuation of Blaise and Xante's story. I was wrong. 😆

Beautiful Fool is Gemma and Bastien's story, and deals with the aftermath of Little Doll. Now, I'll be honest - it took me a long time to warm up to Gemma. Like, 70% in long time. She is the personification of a sheltered, naive girl that too readily believes what people say. She does, however, have a good heart (most of the time - some decions have you raising your eyebrows and muttering, "WTF were you thinking???") and seems to grow more towards the end.

The majority of the "action" if you will comes in the second half of the book, where the tension ramps up. The ending leaves you wanting more, and I can't wait to see how LJ finishes off the series.

This goes from strength to strength, as Gemma and Bastian are working on their relationship another attraction seems to be forming between Noelle and Damien. I am so caught up in these books, sometimes I want to scream and the next I want to cry. I love the french dotted throughout it just makes it so hot what can I say I lapped it up. I always love a book with a good secret society, so this one is definitely right up my alley.

Beautiful Fool picks up where Little Doll left off and how the aftermath of Xanthe and Blaise's story is effecting everyone, especially Gemma and Bastien. At first, I was not a fan of Gemma, but she won me over. Bastien is so head over heels, he would do anything and everything for Gemma.

The story is filled with drama, twists, and steam. If you're looking for a series that will keep you on the edge of your seat, Queens of Chaos is your series.

These two are incredible together and their group as a whole are stronger together. The Club better be ready for them!

I didn’t realize I could hate The Club more but as we delve deeper into their dark past and what they stand for you begin to realize just how f’d up the entire situation is. LJ picks up right where Beautiful Doll ends having Gemma, Noelle and the guys having to deal with the consequences of the deflection. The book does have some slow parts but the buildup of the overall story along with the background history helps to keep you engaged and guessing what will happen next.

Gemma is too sweet and innocent for that world but Bastien is a man in love and wants to be “Endgame” to the sweet naive woman. Gemma did irritate me with her over trusting the wrong people, constant whining and overall oblivious air but as the book progressed her character grew and evolved also.

This book has so many twists and turns it made my head spin. Laura weaves a dark tale of misery, destruction and love. It’s a dark and twisted path but I can’t wait for the next installment now that the gang is back together. Can’t wait to get to the “Endgame”.

𝙒𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡.

We jump in straight where we left off in Little Doll, the rest of the gang dealing with the fallout of Xanthe kidnapping Blaise, but this time we follow Gemma and Bastien's POV.

I love how relatable all of LJ's girls are! I see a piece of myself in all of the Queens of Chaos, but Gemma I relate to SO MUCH. The insecurities and self doubt make her seem so real, but I also loved the way we see her grow from a meek, scared girl to a badass woman who won't let things get in her way!

Bastien is what every girl dreams of, yes he's cloaked in secrets, but he's so loving towards Gemma and really tries to out her and her feelings first! 🥰

We find out more about The Club in this book too, and they're certainly not people you'd want to cross, but the Queens and the brothers are not about to let anyone dictate to them how to live their lives!

Were left on another killer cliffy which means I can't wait for the next book now! 🖤

Its different

Its different from QOC1 so please keep that in mind while reading this one. Where we followed Xanthe in book 1 we now get Gemma's POV. I don't like her.. at all... she's naive, whiny, and I don't know she thinks one thing and does another. Then thinks she should have done the thing that she thought she should have done. As soon as Bastien comes close it feels like her brain cells are gone. Bastien on the other hand I like and he made the whole story worth while and hoping for snippets of Xanthe of course haha.

Now when reading this don't think the book is bad it's not, really not. L.J. writes beautifully and makes the whole story worth while, and I really think it's a good thing if an author can make you hate someone but still love the story. So do read it, hate Gemma but love the story.

These ladies are definitely Queens of Chaos; they wear that crown with pride.
Gem and Bastien's story is full of trust, mistrust, lies, intrigue, love with a ton of bumps in the road but no matter what they are Endgame.
While I was reading I kept saying to myself Oh My God, like this crap could not be happening!!!! But it did and What the heck with the ending!!!!! Yeah, I think I'm officially team Ludo.
I can't wait to hear where these Queens lead their men.

I will start by saying Gemma is not my favorite character, that being said this is amazing. This series has grabbed my attention and I cannot wait to see where it goes.

I was not a fan of Gemma before I read this so when I started I was a bit worried then I wouldn't enjoy it because of that but LJ managed to sway me. She found herself in this book and became more of her own person although still a little naive when it came to Bastien and his family duties. The two of them together had a lot of tension and passion but still felt a little fun and light which I liked. Bastien was both playful and serious and I think that helped Gemma become stronger.

I liked getting more info on the side characters and the look back at the couple from book one, the storyline is very intriguing with lots of twists and turns and I can't wait to see where it goes in book 3!
